Red Robin

Every mention, in time. Each mark is a day — taller means more that day — and links to the moment.

Tim’s take

He mocks Red Robin's "Yum" slogan as proof the chain has contempt for its own customers, arguing they didn't even bother writing a real pitch 17:22 53:20. Outside of that bit, the name mostly shows up as a tag-line punchline tacked onto Ridge Wallet ad reads, an automatic "mmm" non-sequitur rather than commentary 16:58 20:04 40:52. He also joked once that Red Robin would be one of the only restaurants to survive a collapse because desperate, unwell people will always still go there 20:16.

Later he folds it into a larger argument that chain restaurants like Red Robin are dying because people have wised up to "chemical sludge" food, grouping it with TGI Fridays and Applebee's as dead Americana 42:35. From there it becomes shorthand for empty comfort — a big onion ring tower standing in for whatever lets people avoid facing reality, whether that's junk food or political delusion 1:12:15 1:04:32.
