Brooklyn

Every mention, in time. Each mark is a day — taller means more that day — and links to the moment.

Tim’s take

He treats Brooklyn mainly as shorthand for a strain of humorless, self-serious hipster culture — comedians who are really failed theater kids 1:02:10, coffee shops plastered with "end racism" signs where everyone types furiously on a MacBook 56:24, and people who "don't seem fun" 1:46. He calls Brooklyn circa 2012 "one of the worst places ever in history" 22:19.

Beyond that recurring gripe, most mentions are just incidental — the setting for a Netflix show 2:13, a location in a shooting-stats rundown 52:30, the borough he happened to be living in during the pandemic 34:35, or the backdrop to stories like a woman who catfished her way through Pakistan 2:08 and a mob-run 1980s comedy club audition 34:25. He occasionally sets it against Queens or Staten Island as having more authentic, mom-and-pop character 1:37:58, but mostly it functions as a punchline rather than a considered position.
