Tim’s take

He mostly uses Nashville as a punchline: it's where an untalented songwriter gets told to go kill himself 44:08, where fat tourists waddle past on pedal bar bikes near the honky tonks 37:46, and where a halfway house full of capitol rioters could go 56:39. He calls it a manufactured "memory factory" full of bachelorette parties doing the same Instagram poses as everyone else, and contrasts it unfavorably with places that have actual history 40:07.

Set against that is a real, personal favorable note — he talks about playing Nashville, buying a house there, and considering leaving LA for it over taxes 1:06:39. Elsewhere he treats it more neutrally, as one of the boomtowns, alongside Austin and Miami, that absorbed people fleeing New York and LA during and after the pandemic 5:38 12:45, and jokes along when friends describe building compounds there as if it's now "the center of the world" 8:59.
